Axis builds on its success in network camera technology for security and video surveillance with a new product family enabling live streaming and webcasting. AXIS V59 PTZ Network Camera Series is designed to stream and webcast audio and video in a variety of applications such as in auditoriums, classrooms and sports venues, as well as for weather reports and traffic information. The cameras offer HDTV resolutions of up to 1080p at 60 fps, smooth pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ), high quality audio, powerful 30x zoom and an open interface for easy integration with other systems.

The new AXIS V5914 and AXIS V5915 PTZ Network Cameras are ideal for audio and HDTV video streaming, see video.
Axis Communications, the global leader in network video surveillance, introduces its first products for streaming, the AXIS V5914 and AXIS V5915 PTZ Network Cameras. The flexible and high performance cameras deliver high quality audio and smooth pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) capabilities ideal for audio and video production and live streaming and recording in HDTV quality and can be mounted table-top, wall or ceiling (see video). The cameras can be controlled remotely via a web interface enabling operation from mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones.
“Traditionally, Axis cameras have been designed for use in security and surveillance applications. However, high definition video, overall image quality and ease of installation are attractive features to those in non-surveillance scenarios as well,” said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager, Axis Communications, Inc. “For those in non-surveillance applications, Axis is now able to offer a purpose-built camera with the AXIS V59 Series, which delivers the same high quality HDTV video and audio as well as many output connections and features to suit the unique requirements of live streaming and webcasting.”

The AXIS V59 Series cameras offer a powerful 30x zoom and HDTV resolutions of up to 1080p at frame rates as high as 60 frames per second (fps), providing smooth video even with many moving objects. While cameras for the video surveillance market feature fast pan and tilt functionality geared to quickly capture incidents, the AXIS V5914 and AXIS V5915 offer smooth pan and tilt functionality. The camera settings are optimized for high-color fidelity in HDTV as required for studio environments.

The many input and output connections available for professional AV (Audio Visual) processing include SMPTE compliant HDTV streaming with HDMI 1.4 output including audio for connection to an external monitor, 3G-SDI output for 3GB 1080p@60fps transmission including audio, RJ45 Ethernet port, balanced XLR-3 line/mic input with 48V phantom feed for superb audio in stereo, 3.5mm line/mic in and out and a full size SD-card slot for edge storage of recordings.

The cameras feature an open Application Programming Interface (API) for easy integration with other systems and support AXIS Streaming Assistant making video and audio streams easily accessible by streaming applications such as Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder, Microsoft Expression Encoder or Ustream.com and video conferencing applications such as Skype for Business (Lync) or Adobe Connect.

AXIS V5914 and AXIS V5915 PTZ Network Cameras are supported by the industry’s largest base of video management software through the Axis Application Development Partner Program as well as AXIS Camera Companion, AXIS Camera Station, AXIS Camera Application Platform, AXIS Video Hosting System, ONVIF and VAPIX®for easy camera system integration and for application developers to provide the cameras with intelligent capabilities.

AXIS V5914 featuring HDTV 720p at 60 fps and AXIS V5915 featuring HDTV 1080p at 60 fps are planned to be available in Q2 2015 at a suggested retail price of $1999 and $2599 through Axis’s standard distribution channels.
