AXIS Q6034 PTZ Dome Network Camera Expands HDTV PTZ Offering; AXIS P5532 Brings Cost Effective H.264 PTZ to the Market; AXIS T8310 Video Surveillance Control Board Designed for Responsive and Accurate PTZ Control

ISC West 2010 – Las Vegas – Booth #18051– March 24, 2010 – Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market, today announced that it continues to expand IP surveillance into new markets with the release of three new pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) products at ISC West 2010:

  • AXIS Q6034 PTZ Dome Network Camera designed for state-of-the-art indoor HDTV deployments;

  • AXIS P5532 PTZ Dome Network Camera provides cost-effective PTZ surveillance for indoor deployments;

  • AXIS T8310 Video Surveillance Control Board allows simplistic PTZ control for professional surveillance.

“Pan, tilt and zoom capabilities provide security and surveillance departments with the versatility needed to effectively staff personnel and efficiently protect people and property,” said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager, Axis Communications, Inc. “Coupled with HDTV and H.264 compression, image quality is drastically improved all while reducing the cost of storage.”

AXIS Q6034 PTZ Dome Network Camera
AXIS Q6034 (photos, information) is Axis’ top-of-the-line PTZ dome camera with outstanding mechanical performance, HDTV video quality and 18x optical zoom for indoor applications. The PTZ network camera was designed with high-speed and robust pan/tilt capability for exceptional coverage of large areas and great detail when zooming in on an object. AXIS Q6034, which has an IP52-rated protection against dust and dripping water, provides easy installation features and is ideal for use in airports, train stations, casinos, stadiums and shopping malls.

AXIS Q6034 provides 18x optical and 12x digital zoom with autofocus. The network camera enables 180° tilt and 360° continuous pan at a speed of 0.05° to 450° per second. Due to its SMPTE 296M standard HDTV resolution, AXIS Q6034’s 18x zoom provides not only a level of detail that is comparable to a 36x zoom, 4CIF-resolution camera but also the extra advantage of a wider, 16:9 field of view with zoomed-in views.

AXIS P5532 PTZ Dome Network Camera
AXIS P5532 (photos, information) is designed for installations that require high zoom, fast pan and tilt performance, excellent image quality and event management features at an affordable price. The cost-effective, easy-to-install indoor PTZ network camera features 29x optical zoom and 12x digital zoom with autofocus, along with H.264 video in D1 resolution. With an IP51-ratedwarehouses, shopping malls and schools.

With an automatically removable infrared-cut filter, the day and night functionality of both AXIS P5532 and AXIS Q6034 ensures that image quality is maintained even in low light conditions. Additionally, the cameras can deliver multiple, individually configurable H.264 and Motion JPEG video streams simultaneously. H.264 greatly optimizes bandwidth and storage use without compromising image quality, while Motion JPEG is supported for increased flexibility.

AXIS P5532 and AXIS Q6034 use High Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3at) which simplifies installation since only one cable is required for power, video and PTZ controls. A High PoE midspan is supplied with both cameras. The cameras’ built-in SD/SDHC memory card slots also enable recordings to be stored locally.

Finally, both PTZ cameras feature Axis’ unique Advanced Gatekeeper functionality for automatic, preset movement on motion detection, and support the use of an optional multi-connector cable that enables two-way audio, audio detection and four configurable inputs/outputs for connection to external devices such as sensors and relays.

AXIS T8310 Video Surveillance Control Board
AXIS T8310 (photos, information) is a new modular control board for professional video surveillance consisting of a joystick, keypad and jog dial for simple, responsive and accurate pan/tilt/zoom control of cameras on the network and management of recorded video. The modular control board allows users to quickly select different cameras views and search through recorded video. Modules include:
  • AXIS T8311 Video Surveillance Joystick, a three-axis joystick with a turn knob for pan/tilt/zoom control and six push buttons;
  • AXIS T8312 Video Surveillance Keypad, used to navigate quickly between workspaces, cameras, views and PTZ presets;
  • AXIS T8313 Video Surveillance Jog Dial, used to jog and dial through recorded video.

Each modular unit can be purchased and used separately or together as one unit, and are easy to install using the USB interface. When using the complete control board, the modules are interconnected via a USB interface, with the AXIS T8312 Keypad serving as a hub.

AXIS P5532, AXIS Q6034 and AXIS T8310 are supported by the AXIS Camera Station video management software, as well as the industry’s largest base of application software through Axis’ Application Development Partner (ADP) program.

AXIS P5532 will be available to order in May 2010 at an MSRP of $1999 USD; AXIS Q6034 will be available to order in May 2010 at an MSRP of $2999 and an outdoor-ready version is planned for release later this year; and AXIS T8310 is now available through Axis’ distribution channels at an MSRP of $1149, with the modules individually priced at $399 for the Joystick, $449 for the Keypad and $399 for the Jog Dial.
