AXIS Q1922/-E Thermal Network Cameras offer indoor and outdoor-ready night time surveillance options that can detect from more than a mile away

AXIS Q1922-E Thermal Network Camera with VGA resolution and a large variety of lens alternatives is ideal for perimeter surveillance of critical security applications and can be easily integrated into any IP-based surveillance solution.
CHELMSFORD, Mass. – November 8, 2011 – Axis Communications, the world leader in network video, today announced an improved range of thermal network cameras with the launch of AXIS Q1922 and AXIS Q1922-E. The latest additions to the AXIS Q19 Series, which was launched in January 2010 as the world’s first true thermal network camera series, feature VGA resolution and a wide selection of lens alternatives to ensure better image quality and extended detection ranges in complete darkness and challenging visual conditions.
The VGA resolution of the indoor AXIS Q1922 and outdoor-ready Q1922-E models provides more pixels on the detected person or object, which significantly increases reliability, improves surveillance efficiency and facilitates integration of intelligent video applications such as motion and cross-line detection. The new cameras are ideal for cost-efficient 24/7 area or perimeter surveillance for critical applications such as at airports, power plants, transportation hubs and harbors, and can be easily integrated into any IP-based surveillance system like those found at school and hospital campuses, warehouses and construction sites.
“The combination of thermal capabilities and IP video at an attractive price has made this technology – once only reserved for military-grade applications – appealing for a much wider range of installations and provides a higher level of safety and security to many more sites,” said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager, Axis Communications Inc. “As we continue to come out with enhanced thermal network camera models with varying lens options, our integrator partners and their customers have the ability to considerably enhance the detection quality and range of their 24/7 security solutions while more easily integrating third-party applications.”
Thermal IP cameras create images based on the natural heat that radiates from any object, vehicle or person. This gives these cameras the power to see through complete darkness and deliver images that allow operators to detect and act on suspicious activity. Thermal network cameras can also handle many difficult weather conditions better than conventional cameras, allowing operators to see through haze, dust and smoke.
AXIS Q1922 is designed for indoor surveillance, while AXIS Q1922-E is an IP66-rated, outdoor-ready camera. The four available lens alternatives, 640x480 VGA resolution and advanced image processor further improve effective area and perimeter surveillance. The four lens alternatives also sustain maximum flexibility in range and field of view, ranging from 320 – 1,970 yards, depending on the lens option.
The thermal network cameras also support key IP surveillance features such as H.264 and Motion JPEG compression, two-way audio, local storage and Power over Ethernet. Additionally, as intelligent video is a key component of any thermal network camera, AXIS Q1922/-E provides a tampering alarm, motion detection and support for AXIS Camera Application Platform.
The entire AXIS Q19 Thermal Camera Series is supported by the industry’s largest base of video management software through the Axis Application Development Partner program as well as AXIS Camera Station. AXIS Q19 Series also supports the ONVIF specification for interoperability of network video products.
AXIS Q1922/-E is expected to be available in January 2012 through Axis’ distribution channels. For photos of Axis products and more, please visit AXIS Q1922/-E
